Non-ongoing positions will be offered on a specified term basis for an initial period of up to 12 months with the possibility of being extended.Executive Level 1 - Mental Health Adviser, Chief Psychiatrist Office BranchAdelaide SA, Brisbane QLD, Canberra ACT, Darwin NT, Hobart TAS, Melbourne VIC, Perth WA, Sydney NSWThe Office of the Chief Psychiatrist has been recently established to provide expert mental health advice on current and emerging issues to key stakeholders including Government, senior staff in the Department of Health and Aged Care (DoHAC), and other government departments as required.The Office engages with health care professionals, lived experience organisations and other stakeholders on matters related to mental health policy and service reform and delivery; and represents the Department in senior level discussions with industry, regulatory authorities and other relevant parties both nationally and internationally in relation to mental health policy and service development.Other responsibilities include:Supporting the Deputy Secretary, Secretary and Ministers on specific matters relevant to mental health and mental illness.Assisting with complex and sensitive clinical issues that may be raised in ministerial or departmental correspondence.Participating in relevant expert or technical advisory group in relation to clinical programs.Assisting in implementation of Commonwealth and National Plans and frameworks in areas relevant to clinical practice such as the mental health workforce.The Office is seeking experienced mental health professionals to advise on the safety and quality of mental health programs implemented as part of system reform.
