The Department
The Alfred Cancer Program is responsible for the overall delivery of a comprehensive cancer service which involves a range of diagnostic services, surgical, radiation and oncology therapies for Head & Neck cancer patients. The Head & Neck Cancer Clinical Nurse Coordinator will work in partnership across all of these services and other health organisations to contribute to the continuity and quality of care for patients diagnosed with Head & Neck cancer.
The Role
An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced registered nurse to be an expert point of contact for Head & Neck cancer patients and their families in providing both psychosocial and clinical support. The Head & Neck Cancer Clinical Nurse Coordinator provides evidence-based support and care coordination across the entire care continuum and is required to develop and implement a coordinated, seamless, patient focused approach in the provision of Head & Neck cancer nursing care.
Qualifications and Experience Required
* Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia via AHPRA
* Minimum of 3 years acute care setting including experience with Head & Neck or Oncology services
* Post graduate qualification in Oncology or willingness to undertake such
* Highly competent clinician, with ability to show initiative and enthusiasm and work autonomously
* Clinical competency with basic Head & Neck or oncology skills and knowledge relevant to anti-cancer therapies
* Demonstrated sound organisational skills to assess, plan, design, coordinate, implement and evaluate the delivery of healthcare
* Demonstrated understanding and experience with the multidisciplinary management of patients
* Possess sound analytical and critical thinking skills
* Able to drive culture, encompassing a person-centred focus, adaptability, respecting diversity, innovative thinking, application of evidence into practice and self-management
* Proficient computer skills and the ability to maintain or administer a clinical database
