Program Manager @ BREAS Medical AB | Mechanical Engineering, Medical Device Development, User Centered
Are you looking to make a difference in the field of respiratory medical device technology? Breas Medical AB, a Swedish innovator in ventilator technology for over 33 years, develops world-class products that deliver life-improving outcomes for patients and clinicians.
We are currently seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Sydney-based design team to develop and commercialize our next generations of patient-centric products.
About the Role
The Sydney team is highly collaborative and operates broadly across the full product development process from early-stage concept development through to product launch and post-launch product sustaining activities. The products we work on are mechanical medical devices and so the role is office-based with negotiable flexible work arrangements.
The Mechanical Design Engineer shall incorporate the following three areas of responsibility:
1. Product Development and Technology Development
o Deliver programs balancing Quality, Time, and Cost to meet or exceed business and commercial needs.
o Participate and maintain a healthy and motivated work environment.
o Support shared administrative tasks and running of office/operation.
2. Design, Develop and Test
o Ideation, concept development, design engineering, prototyping, and testing.
o User testing.
o Test design and delivery (Early stage and formal verification).
o Automated test rig design and development.
3. Design for Manufacture
o Supplier engagement and Design for Manufacturing (DFM) evaluations.
o Execute failure and root cause investigations; write and present reports.
o Meet continuous improvement objectives, for example, quality and time to market initiatives.
o Comply with Quality and Regulatory requirements.
What We’re Looking For
To thrive in this role, you should have:
Mandatory
* Minimum 4 years’ experience in Mechanical design/product development role.
* Demonstrated ability to balance Quality, Time, and Cost to resolve technical problems robustly whilst achieving business outcomes.
* Excellent verbal and written communication – Synthesizing complex engineering discoveries into tangible actions for broader business stakeholders.
* 3D CAD experience – Solidworks including advanced surfacing preferred.
* Prototyping including hand prototyping, 3D printing, and rapid prototyping methods.
* Human factors and/or human-centric design experience.
* Design for manufacturing knowledge ( DFM ) – Preferably plastic injection moulding and liquid silicone rubber.
* Very competent problem-solving capability.
* Fluent English communication skills; and an additional benefit if Chinese and/or Swedish speaking.
Optional
* Familiarity with ISO13485 or experience in another highly regulated industry preferred.
* Finite Element Analysis experience.

Salary Range: $85,000-$105,000 + Super
