We are currently recruiting for multiple positions to join the School of Health and Social Development as Lecturers. With internationally recognised experts in research and teaching, we are ranked among the top 200 public health programs in the world, and the School has various cutting-edge programs in many diverse areas of Health.
These lecturing positions will lead a range of teaching and research activities focussed on undergraduate health sciences and/or health, nature and sustainability, and undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) public health and health promotion within Deakin’s School of Health and Social Development. Candidates with teaching expertise in epidemiology, research methods, health communication, public health, and health/nature/sustainability are strongly encouraged to apply.
Your key responsibilities will include:
1. Maintaining deep discipline knowledge and assisting in the integration of industry and research practice to inform unit/course design and teaching practices
2. Participating in teaching teams to develop courses and materials and collaborating to produce innovation in curriculum design
3. Providing clear assessment criteria, rubrics and timely feedback to learners, monitoring and adapting assessment practices to facilitate and improve learning outcomes
4. Supporting diverse learners by designing accessible and inclusive unit material and practices to provide academic support to students within units
5. Advancing knowledge within own specific field/s and building teaching and learning capability related to discipline or pedagogy
6. Initiating, designing and conducting high-quality research and widely communicating research outputs to discipline(s), other sectors and the community, nationally and internationally
Key selection criteria for this role:
7. A PhD in a relevant discipline and/or other relevant qualifications and experience
8. An excellent record of scholarly learning and teaching in UG and/or PG programs, including innovative curriculum design
9. An emerging reputation in research and scholarship through publications and/or exhibitions and/or success in obtaining external research funding; with an ability to make a contribution to community engagement for research and teaching
10. The capacity to contribute to leadership of teaching, research and/or administration
11. Excellent interpersonal skills and a proven ability to establish good working relationships with colleagues
