About the role
Our federal government client is seeking an experienced Product Owners at CER who will closely work with the Transformation Office product management staff, business area staff, and other scrum team members.
Key responsibilities
* Connecting with the customer (scheme business area staff and participants); understanding and articulating customer and stakeholder needs and expectations, identifying problems and developing whole-product solutions.
* Gaining and applying feedback; arranging for obtaining user and stakeholder feedback, testing benefit hypotheses, evolving solution design and sharing feedback with the Agile Release Train (ART).
* Contributing to the Change Program vision and relevant roadmaps; representing the end user, understand the market/context, educate the Agile Release Train (ART) during planning, and assist with ART’s prioritisation of work.
* Collaborating with business and the scrum team to deliver value and build the right thing; managing and prioritising the scrum team’s backlog of items, guiding story creation and acceptance, and supporting the architectural runway.
* Educating and influencing business area staff about what’s desirable, viable and feasible. This may involve working with senior managers and other leadership roles to gain support for changes or solutions.
* Being a trusted and transparent ambassador for business within the constraints. This means ensuring scrum team members understand user needs rather than taking a ‘tech easy’ approach.
* Provide for a well refined and ordered product backlog that scrum team members can pull from as they have capacity. This means preparing the runway; looking at what’s coming in immediately, defining roadmap features and working with business and architects to prepare for what’s coming later.
* Establish and maintain a product roadmap to guide development work, ensuring content in DevOps is complete and sufficient in detail.
* Connect the product vision to the development process by establishing and maintaining a product roadmap as the key reference point for all scrum team members and other stakeholders.
* Engage with business using a range of options for identified problems, articulating the effort involved (time and resources), the impacts of different solutions/options and negotiating any trade-offs. This may involve: convincing business area staff to compromise which means finding a palatable message or rational and use of factual data to aid decision-making and product trade-offs to ensure constraints can be met.
* Participate in their ceremonies and events which form part of the ways of their working. This also means taking a lead role in facilitating discussions in PI Planning events and being open and transparent in identifying, managing or escalating issues, dependencies, risks, duplication, and opportunities for re-use with other Product Owners, scrum team members and staff across the broader Change Program.
Highly desirable criteria
* 3+ years of experience in a similar role.
* Understanding of the Digital Service Standard.
* Relevant qualification in Product Ownership or related Agile/SAFe certifications.
Desirable criteria
* Candidate must prove a suitable level of capability (including demonstrated knowledge, experience & security clearances required) to meet their requirements.
* The extent to which the proposed personnel demonstrate relevant experience in delivery of the services.
