The Opportunity

We are looking for an an Animal Ethics Compliance Officer / Animal Ethics Committee [AEC] Executive Office r to join our global Quality Assurance team on a full-time on-going basis. Reporting to the Global Head of Quality Systems & Compliance, you will promote regulatory compliance concerning the care and use of animals. You will administer and facilitate the AEC efficiently and with a continuous improvement focus and you will develop key relationships with all partners to achieve crucial business objectives.
The Role
Working in a hybrid capacity and part of a local and global team, you will:
1. Undertake ALL secretariat and administrative responsibilities of the Animal Ethics Committee (AEC) Executive Officer for the CSL Limited Animal Ethics Committee
2. Undertake administrative, functional and reporting responsibilities of the Animal Ethics Compliance Officer on behalf of the Institute [CSL Limited]
3. Maintain, review and update procedures to facilitate compliance with the Prevention for Cruelty to Animals Act 1986 (Vic), the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Regulations 2019 and the Australian Code for the Care and Use of Animals for Scientific Purposes 8th edn 2013 [2021 Update]
4. Deliver training seminars and provide specific expertise and advice to Institutional staff regarding strict compliance with the relevant legislation and mandatory codes of practice.
5. Administer the database used by the Institute to manage AEC approved projects, and maintain animal ethics governance and database documentation in the Quality Management System.
6. Ensure all activities involving the care and use of animals comply with the relevant legislation and mandatory codes of practice
7. Promote ongoing Regulatory compliance to the Code across the business
8. Help implement Reduction, Replacement, Refinement in all areas of animal use .
Your skills and experience
To be considered for this role you have:
9. Degree in Veterinary Science recognised by the Veterinary Surgeons Board [Victoria]
10. Understanding of Victorian animal welfare legislation and mandatory codes of practice
11. 3+ years of experience making detailed submissions to, and/or administering an Animal Ethics Committee
12. 5+ years of in a Quality and/or compliance role within the pharmaceutical industry
13. Experience communicating complex information both written and orally to different business partners
14. Collaborative teamwork approach and experience in a role with minimal supervision
