Role Overview
We are seeking experienced Chefs to join our team at the GriffithEx-Servicemen's Club, a dynamic venue offering modern Australian pub cuisine and international meals.
Duties and Responsibilities
* Estimate food consumption and requisition or purchase food as required.
* Ensure each department/section places an order for next day consumption based on their par stock levels.
* Cook food by various methods, including grilling over an open flame.
* Prepare, cook, garnish, and present food to high standards.
* Presentation of food displays is also an essential aspect of this role.
* Maintain a clean and hygienic workstation at all times.
* Evaluate supplies, equipment, and work areas to ensure conformance to established standards.
* Monitor sanitation practices to ensure compliance with regulations and company policies.
* Order or requisition food and other supplies needed to ensure efficient operation.
* Supervise and coordinate activities of workers engaged in food preparation.
* Demonstrate new cooking techniques and equipment to staff and provide guidance on cooking procedures.
* Prepare food with knowledge of nutritional values of commodities and the effects of cooking on nutritional value.
* Inspect the quality of raw and cooked food products to ensure that standards are met.
* Check the quantity and quality of received products used in food preparation.
Requirements and Qualifications
* A minimum Diploma-level qualification or 3 years of relevant work experience.
* A minimum 2 years of experience working as a Chef.
* A minimum 2 years' experience working in a commercial kitchen environment.
* A minimum 2 years of experience in menu planning, cost control, and new dish development.
* Experience in preparing food to dietary restrictions, particularly gluten-free and vegan diets.
* The ability to communicate effectively in English in a fast-paced environment.
Working Conditions
This is a full-time role requiring a minimum of 38 hours per week. Shifts may vary from time to time.
