We are currently seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Microbiology technician to join our team situated midway between Brisbane and the Gold Coast. The position on offer will assist our business in servicing the needs of the pharmaceutical, complementary medicines and veterinary industries.
In this role, you will join our microbiology department and will assist in sample processing and testing to ensure compliance and provide on time services to clients. The role is a 6 month contract with possibility of extension. GMP knowledge will be preferable but not essential; full training will be provided.
Your main duties / responsibilities will include:
* Preparation and maintenance of culture media, reagents and buffers, including performing quality control checks.
* Cleaning, sterilization and maintenance of glassware.
* Perform sample weighing and processing.
* Assist in the preparation of microorganisms working stocks and cell suspensions.
* Assist in microbial testing of raw materials and non-sterile products.
* Assist in preservative efficacy testing of non-sterile products.
* Assist in validation studies.
* Perform water testing using filtration method.
* Perform environmental monitoring in the laboratory and cGMP documentation.
* Assist in identification of microbial contaminants using microscopy, morphology and biochemical tests.
* Calibrate, operate and maintain basic laboratory equipment such as autoclave, pH and conductivity meters, analytical balances, light microscope, colony counter, pipettes and biosafety cabinet.
* Data entry, analysis and demonstrate good documentation practices.
The successful applicant should possess the following:
* Qualifications in Microbiology or similar.
* Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively as part of the team. Can work independently if required.
* Proactive mentality and strive for continuous improvement.
* Strong problem solving, with solution-focused mindset.
* Experience working in cGMP laboratory would be highly regarded but not essential.
The position on offer is a 6 month contract working 38 hours per week. Training will be provided.
