North Burnett Regional Council offers a dynamic working environment with opportunities for professional development and initiatives to support a healthy work/life balance.About The Role Reporting to the Civil Works Engineer, this is a key role in the planning, coordination, and execution of civil construction, maintenance, and capital works programs and projects. It plays a critical role in ensuring the successful delivery of high-quality infrastructure that meets community needs and aligns with Council's strategic objectives, operational plans, and budget. This position requires strong leadership, project management expertise, and the ability to collaborate with internal teams, contractors, and stakeholders to drive efficient and effective project outcomes across the northern part of our region.
About You You will be an experienced leader with a background in civil works and civil construction with a proven ability to plan, coordinate, and manage works and resources across civil crews. You will be a strong communicator, with the ability to work collaboratively with relevant stakeholders at both strategic and operational levels.
Key Responsibilities Will Include, But Are Not Limited To Develop, maintain, and oversee construction and maintenance programs to meet quality standardsProvide leadership and clear direction to teams, ensuring effective execution of tasks, budget control, and service deliveryEngage and coach staff to enhance skills, achieve strategic goals, and foster a culture of continuous improvementLead the implementation of safety management practices within the workgroupEnsure all works by staff and contractors are conducted safely, meet standards, and minimize disruptionPlan and improve construction and maintenance projects and delivery methodsComplete planning and reporting for civil projects on time and keep stakeholders informedMonitor and manage expenditure to ensure budget compliance, reporting significant variancesParticipate in an after-hours roster for emergencies and urgent situationsMaintain accountability for information systems and ensure compliance with record-keeping requirementsAssist in procurement, ensuring materials and resources meet economic and quality standardsTo Be Successful In This Role You Will Have Tertiary qualifications in civil engineering or other appropriate discipline with substantial experience in managing a civil works service area and day-labour operationCertificate IV in Civil Construction Supervision is desirableWork Safe in the Construction Industry Induction Certificate (White Card)Demonstrated absence of a relevant criminal history (National Police Check)Benefits Of Working At Council Be part of a passionate and talented teamGenerous leave provisionsHealthy work/life balanceRostered days off (RDO)Professional development and training opportunitiesEmployee Assistance Program for work or non-work-related mattersFor further information regarding this position please contact Darren Simpson on Ph: or Jeni Codner from the People and Culture Team.
