Our Projects
Due to continued growth, we now have an opportunity for a Group Manager – Commercial and Risk to join the business in our head office in Osborne Park.
Reporting to the CEO, the Group Manager – Commercial and Risk is accountable for ensuring that Whittens has clear commercial and risk frameworks in place to enable a successful company model. This position will lead the commercial function of the Whittens business and ensure that clear contract governance is in place.
Moreover, the position is responsible for ensuring that contracts are executed as per the agreed terms and that Whittens has a clear line of sight to project risks or changes which may affect the financial performance of the contracts being delivered.
ABOUT THE ROLE:
Work closely with and build collaborative networks with the Whittens’ Leadership Team and all internal stakeholders to ensure the strategic plan is achieved and that relevant people and development plans are aligned to meet strategic and operational objectives.
Provide cross functional leadership acting as a subject matter expert in Commercial Execution.
Set a Commercial framework and strategy which assists Whittens to achieve its overall strategic intent.
Drive continuous improvement of the company commercial framework and develop strategic initiatives to optimise financial performance, minimise risk and drive the company forward.
Provide support to the Leadership Team to ensure business risks are managed effectively.
Provision of strategic and operational support to the Directors, Project Managers and Pre – Contracts team in pre-contract bid strategy and management of commercial risk.
Ensure all contracts are executed in accordance with the agreed contract terms and monitor contract performance against key KPI’s.
Post-contract, you will establish project budgets, cost control measures, manage cash flow, forecasting and commercial reporting to ensure we maximise our commercial opportunity whilst minimising risk.
Ensure projects are set up for success by facilitating a robust project launch to ensure commercial framework is embedded and projects teams are trained and clear roles and responsibilities assigned.
Manage frameworks regarding cost value reporting and cost control processes.
Maintain a clear oversight of all contract reviews, variations and general communications coordinating the negotiation and agreement of any changes to contract documentation.
Ensure that regular line of sight is maintained to contract financial performance, highlighting the potential for future claims and inadequate performance against tender.
Facilitate project compliance audits and present findings in Board Reports.
Develop and maintain positive working relationships with all stakeholders, including client representatives.
ABOUT YOU:
Visible leader with demonstrated experience in the Australian commercial Construction space.
Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying, Business Law, Construction Management or similar (preferable).
Experience working in a similar regional or strategic commercial and risk position.
Proven leadership skills and high energy levels are essential to fit the culture of our company.
Ability to build relationships with key stakeholders whilst having extensive knowledge of various construction contracts.
The ability to stay calm under pressure.
Willingness to grow with the business to ensure successful outcomes.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
