Program Manager (SES Band 1) - Data Science and Emerging Methods Branch SESB1 attractive remuneration package and benefits The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) is seeking Senior Executive Band 1 (Program Manager) for the Data Science and Emerging Methods Branch (DSEMB) within the Methodology & Data Science Division (MDSD).
The Program Manager reports to the Chief Methodologist who is the General Manager of MDSD.
MDSD aims to advance and apply statistical and data science methods for producing reliable and high-quality statistics and data services.
The Division is responsible for providing the ABS with competence in statistical methodology and data science that provide fit-for-purpose methodological development and technical solutions.
DSEMB's role within MDSD includes applying and developing methodology for linking and integrating, adjusting, analysing, and confidentialising data to generate new statistics and insights.
As Program Manager, Data Science and Emerging Methods Branch, your key accountabilities will include: Shaping and leading the Branch's work program to ensure it is delivered on time to appropriate quality including high levels of user satisfaction, within budget and in alignment with the ABS Enterprise Strategy.
Being responsive, engaging with ambiguity and uncertainty, anticipating and taking risks and opportunities and changing course as needed.
Building and maintaining productive relationships and providing methodological advice to a wide range of stakeholders.
Leading and inspiring staff to build engagement and future-ready capabilities to deliver high quality service and outcomes.
Engaging in and contributing to MDSD's external engagement with clients, academia, and international peers in official statistics.
Contributing to the leadership and management of the MDSD Executive Team, shaping strategies and supporting a simplified and streamlined governance that enables transparent and responsive decision making, flexible resource allocation and employee wellbeing.
Demonstrating and promoting expected cultural behaviours (self-aware, customer-focused, collaborative, accountable, adaptable and innovative).
Contributing to the ABS SES Leadership Team, promoting ABS-wide initiatives beyond your specific branch work program e.g., diversity, innovation, and capability building.

Academic qualifications with a major in Statistics are highly desirable.
Preferred candidates will also have significant experience in leading people and programs in statistical methodology, quantitative disciplines or statistics production.
