About the Role
An exciting opportunity for those interested in expanding your knowledge, skill set and experience managing Major Trauma Patients and working with the Royal Adelaide Hospital's Trauma Service Team.
The Trauma Nurse Consultant - Case Management Team work within the Emergency Department (ED) & Resuscitation area to provide Trauma Nursing clinical support during the initial arrival, assessment and management of the patient and navigating the disposition post ED to make this process holistic and efficient.
The Trauma Nurse Consultant role also works to support the entire journey of the major trauma patient and their family throughout their admission. This is done in a ‘case management’ delivery style where the Trauma Nurse Consultants continue to follow-up and support the clinical progress, efficiency and continuity of care, communication and discharge planning throughout the inpatient journey – this is particularly important as the major trauma patient often moves between different clinical locations and often is managed by many different clinical teams. The role collaborates closely with multidisciplinary teams, providing vital trauma case management seven days a week. As an expert resource, the Trauma Nurse Consultants guide care coordination for major trauma inpatients at the RAH, working alongside the Trauma Service Medical Team to support the Emergency Department and Inpatient Teams.
In addition to proficiency in Critical Care (ED/ICU/Retrieval Nursing) clinical skills and experience, patient advocacy, communication and education is crucial to the role. The role also includes provision of education, supporting clinical audit and simulation and collaborating for quality improvement and research initiatives.

About You
We’re looking for dedicated Trauma Nurse Consultant Case Managers who meet the following key requirements:
4. Qualifications : Registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, with postgraduate qualifications relevant to Major Trauma Care (i.e., Emergency and / or Critical Care and / or Trauma Nursing) or relevant experience.
5. Leadership Skills : Strong leadership abilities, including effective communication, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills.
6. Team Collaboration : Proven ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team and foster an environment that nurtures staff potential.
7. Experience : A minimum of 5 years post-registration experience in Emergency, Critical Care, or Trauma Nursing, including supervisory and educational roles.
