Job Description The Australian Financial Review is seeking four trainees for our Sydney and Melbourne newsrooms. The traineeship program is a rare opportunity for aspiring reporters to learn the craft alongside award-winning journalists and editors. Day to day you will: Develop your journalism and production skills Create impactful stories for the AFR audience Work across different parts of the newsroom Be mentored by colleagues To be successful, you will be passionate about contributing to The Australian Financial Review and excited about a career in journalism. You must have excellent writing and interpersonal skills, a deep understanding of news and current affairs, and a curiosity about business, the economy, people and issues. You must also be a hard worker, a keen learner and have strong critical thinking skills. These positions are 12-month fixed-term contracts with the potential to secure a permanent role at the end of the contract. The traineeships are full-time rostered positions and could involve shift work, including weekends.
