Based in Cairns our client focuses on a wraparound model of care that brings together a multidisciplinary team.
Our clints team includes Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Workers and Practitioners, Registered Nurses, Midwives, a Social and Emotional Wellbeing team, Clinical Educators, Clinical Facilitators, and Liaison Officers, all working collaboratively to provide comprehensive healthcare to their community.
The OpportunityWe are looking for a dedicated and experienced General Practitioner (Medical Officer) to join our client's vibrant team.
This role provides a unique opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the health of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, serving patients from Cape York, the Northern Peninsula Area (NPA), and the Torres Strait region.
As a Medical Officer, you will apply a broad range of skills and expertise to manage complex cases of chronic illness, deliver comprehensive and holistic healthcare, and collaborate within a multidisciplinary team.
Our team includes GPs, Registered Nurses, Nurse Practitioners, Aboriginal Health Practitioners/Workers, Midwives, Allied Health professionals, visiting Medical Specialists, and Administration staff.Our client is offering a casual rate of $225 per hour.
Key Responsibilities Deliver comprehensive and holistic primary healthcare to individuals and families presenting to our service.
Conduct health surveillance, maintenance, and promotion activities in line with Mookai Rosie's strategic, governance, and accreditation frameworks.
Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to provide coordinated care, ensuring effective outcomes for clients.
Engage in care coordination and referrals as necessary, liaising with internal and external health professionals, service providers, and stakeholders.
Support the development of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health workforce by providing leadership, clinical skills, and confidence-building opportunities.
Essential Qualifications and Experience Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery.
Registration with the Medical Board of Queensland and the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP) or Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM).
Demonstrated experience working in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health.
Regional and remote healthcare experience is essential.
Essential Attributes Ability to perform comprehensive health assessments and develop, implement, and evaluate clinical care and primary health care strategies.
Deep understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people's determinants of health, societies, and cultures from both historical and contemporary perspectives.
Excellent communication skills and sensitivity when engaging with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
Commitment to working within the principles of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community control.
Well-developed interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary team environment.
Knowledge and understanding of quality improvement processes and RACGP Standards.
Evidence of vaccination against measles, mumps, rubella, varicella, pertussis, hepatitis B, and COVID-19 (two vaccinations and at least one booster).
Current "C" Class QLD Driver's Licence, with no restrictions.
Senior First Aid and CPR/BLS certification.
