Job Description:
The Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) is a unique entity in Australia that delivers high-quality fire, rescue, emergency, and disaster management services through a single agency. As an emergency service agency, QFES ensures the safety of people and property across Queensland through prevention, preparation, response, and recovery activities.
Purpose of the Role
The purpose of this role is to contribute to the delivery of fire and emergency services as a member of a team, responding to incidents and emergencies. The successful candidate will be required to attend 50% of calls as a day worker with routine hours or 30% as a shift worker with non-routine hours. They will also be required to attend 75% of regular drill and training sessions, obtain an MRV licence within 12 months, and participate in ongoing skills acquisition and maintenance programs.
Key Accountabilities
* Respond to fire and other emergency incidents as a member of a team.
* Promote community safety and emergency preparedness through community education activities.
* Develop and maintain competencies by participating in regular drills and training courses provided by QFES.
* Maintain attendance standards for emergency incidents and training.
* Operate specialist firefighting and rescue equipment safely and effectively.
* Contribute to the upkeep and hygiene of station facilities.
* Ensure maintenance and repair of operational equipment and station facilities.
* Contribute to incident reporting and general station administration.
