The National Film and Sound Archive of Australia's (NFSA) requires a Collection Systems Specialist to configure and maintain core systems related to the management of the collection. Based in the Digital Platforms team, the role involves conceiving, documenting, and implementing technical solutions to ensure the preservation and access of audiovisual collection material, transcoding representative derived files, and file metadata extraction. The role works closely with the Digital Collection Services and Digital Infrastructure teams in enabling crucial digital ingest pipelines, both from internally created files digitised from analogue sources and incoming born-digital materials. The role is highly technical and requires a strong awareness of digital media characteristics, available tooling, and best digital preservation practices.
Responsibilities: Day-to-day management of collection systems, including monitoring performance, anomalies, and applying systems updates. Troubleshooting and resolving workflow issues as they occur. Provide support across the organisation on technical questions and concerns, including training in subject areas directly related to the role. Conceiving and implementing solutions to issues specific to audiovisual/multimedia archives. Provide documentation for appropriate system use and solutions. #J-18808-Ljbffr
