An exciting leadership opportunity exists for a passionate Head of Department (Secondary) to join Mackay State High School on a temporary full-time basis, until 12 December 2025, unless otherwise determined.
This opportunity provides the successful candidate the ability to be innovative, whilst gaining experience in high performance team leadership and curriculum design.
The Head of Department (Secondary) with a focus on Technology leads a range of curriculum including Senior Design, Engineering Skills, Furnishing Skills, Building and Construction, Industrial Skills, Hospitality Practices, Certificate II in Hospitality, Early Childhood Studies, Agriculture along with year 7-10 Australian Technology Curriculum (Engineering Principles and Systems, Materials and Technology Specialisation, Food Specialisations, Food and Fibre, Digital technologies).
Your Opportunity
As The Head Of Department Technology You Will
Lead curriculum, pedagogy, assessment and moderation practices across the faculty;Collect, analyse and interpret data to improve student achievement and engagement;Support teachers to achieve high standards and to develop their capacity through professional learning, coaching and feedback;Form collaborative partnerships with relevant industry and external organisations to drive real life learning and innovative STEM agendas within our school;Support, model and coach teachers in classroom management techniques to enhance student engagement;Form strong learning partnerships with students, parents and external stakeholders in case management processes;Understand the legislation and policies that impact on schooling especially in relation to curriculum activity risk assessments, workplace health and safety and students and staff within the school department;Manage the human, financial, facilities and curriculum resources of the school department to achieve goals.Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To
Lead the school department to develop, articulate and commit to a shared educational vision focussed on providing quality learning outcomes for all students;Embed socially just practices in daily school life;Set high standards for student and staff performance;Actively participate in lifelong learning and ongoing professional development;Form partnerships with students, parents, other government agencies, and community groups.How To Apply
