About the role
Mater Refugee Health Service is seeking a Clinical Nurse (CN) to join the Mater Refugee Complex Care Clinic on a permanent part time basis, working 16 hours per week.
Mater Integrated Refugee Health Service Nurses provide specialised nursing assessments, immunisation services, care coordination, health advocacy and health literacy to individuals arriving in Brisbane under the Humanitarian Settlement Program in a variety of settings, including General Practices across Brisbane North and South, the Mater Hospital Brisbane and home environments.
Salary range: $54.21 - $58.08 per hour plus 11.5% superannuation and +
What you’ll be doing
The Clinical Nurse provides additional leadership and advanced clinical competency, using their extensive experience to:
1. Provide mentorship and guidance to assist in the professional growth of less-experienced nursing team members,
2. Support the Nurse Unit Manager in activities designed to drive continuous quality improvement and assist with skill development
3. Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders
About you
4. Current AHPRA nursing registration as a Registered Nurse (no restrictions)
5. Current open drivers’ licence and ability to travel to work sites across Brisbane North and South
6. Immunisation Program Nurse qualification (or currently enrolled in course) and evidence of up to date continuing professional development in immunisation
7. Post graduate qualification in a related discipline highly desired
8. Minimum 3 years’ clinical experience in a relevant specialist nursing field: refugee health/ primary care/ rehabilitation/ disability/ paediatrics/ geriatrics/ chronic disease
9. Previous experience in primary care, and prior experience and training in triage highly regarded
10. Advanced written and verbal communication skills including experience of working with peoples from diverse cultural backgrounds; engaging interpreters in a clinical setting, and the ability to liaise with a variety of different stakeholders both internally and externally at various levels.
11. Demonstrated ability to operate in a team environment and autonomously using initiative, sound reasoning and strong listening, negotiation, and decision-making skills
