They are now seeking an experienced GIS Technician to work with them on a contract engagement until 30th September 2025.
Candidates for this position must have minimum of 3 years of recognised industry experience, coupled with Tertiary qualifications in GIS work such as Certificate IV in Spatial Information Services or equivalent, and extensive knowledge and experience with ESRI software including ArcPro, ArcGIS Online and ESRI Web Apps As a GIS Technician you will be responsible for the following: Actively contribute to the Credits Supply Branch work priorities by providing data and technical advice and reports to support and inform environmental regulation, environmental programs, associated policies and strategies, often within tight deadlines.
Assist in the development and management of spatial data, GIS products, technical projects and reports to ensure their objectives and deadlines are met.
Capture, process, design and maintain spatial data in a complex digital environment by applying expert spatial knowledge of GIS and related applications ensuring compliance with quality assurance standards to ensure Credits Supply team and regulated entities have reliable access to spatial data.
Develop and implement standards and procedures for the analysis and capture of GIS data.
Undertake qualitative and quantitative research and analysis to evaluate issues and formulate evidence-based options and recommendations to support policy and program development and implementation Provide technical advice and reports, and actively participate in industry and agency working groups to assist in achieving business objectives and in meeting operational and legislative requirements.
Support team to ensure work is completed efficiently and within budget.
About You You will be an experienced GIS Technician with proven experience and reliability in previous positions.
The successful candidate will possess: Tertiary qualifications are preferred, such as TAFE Certificate IV in Spatial Information Services or equivalent, and a minimum of 3 years of recognised industry experience.
Extensive knowledge and experience with ESRI software including ArcPro, ArcGIS Online and ESRI Web Apps Experience in database management and spatial visualisation Extensive knowledge and experience with field apps, data collection workflows and user design experience for a range of audiences Knowledge, skills and experience using FME Workbench or other modelling and analytics related applications, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Power BI would be beneficial Knowledge of natural resource data and ecology would also be beneficial.
