A number of our Teacher Aides has transitioned to teaching and became teachers this year, so Yeppoon State High School Special Education Program now has numerous vacancies to fill.
Being a Teacher Aide, you have the luxury to work during school hours and have school holidays off whilst making a difference in the lives of our teenagers.
We are looking for up to six (6) fixed term temporary Teacher Aides to join our team and support students from year 7 to 12 with diverse learning needs within general classrooms. Tasks also include focussed or intensive small group work including reading, writing and numeracy development, general supervision, faculty/admin work and participation in co-curricular activities.

Founded in 1969, Yeppoon State High School is a coeducational secondary public school for students from Year 7 to Year 12 and is located on the Capricorn Coast, 30 minutes by ferry from Great Keppel Island.
The school site is 14 hectares and is well laid out with mature trees and gardens that offer outdoor eating areas and shaded spaces. In addition to 70 classrooms, the school also has a library, two ovals, two sport and assembly halls, performing arts centre, music rooms, art rooms, two hospitality and manual arts centres, trade training centre, health hub, agricultural farm, five science laboratories, tuckshop and administration centre.
About the Role
As a teacher aide within this program, you will be working with students from year 7 to year 12. The role is to work collaboratively under the direction and guidance of the Deputy Principal for Diversity and Inclusion, SEP teachers (case managers) and classroom teachers to support students with disabilities in the school.
Applicants who possess the following skills will make the strongest candidates: High level of interpersonal skills to establish and maintain productive relationships with students, staff and the school community.Ability to follow directions and guidelines outlined by Deputy Principal, SEP teachers and classroom teachers and report any concerns directly to the class teacher or case manager.Ability to communicate effectively to instruct small groups or individual students under the direction of teachers and/or therapists.Knowledge and understanding of a range of disabilities is an advantage.Adaptability to cater for a diverse range of student needs, displaying patience, understanding, tact and sensitivity to students and families.Ability to ensure all aspects of Individual Behaviour plans, Medical/Health plans and Risk Management plans are implemented with the focus on developing a positive environment.Ability to maintain student and school confidentiality.Hours on offer: 25 hours/week or 5 basic hours/day.Up to six (6) positions available.Salary below is reflective of full time equivalent or 1.0 FTE.
