This position facilitates engagement and access to young people by providing services that are relevant and responsive to the health and developmental needs of this target group. The Youth Health Services Counsellor (Social Worker) provides a range of psychosocial interventions including evidence based therapeutic interventions and counselling. You will also provide case management and support, group work, health education, intake assessment and outreach. The Youth Health Services Social Worker works within a dynamic youth focus team where the right candidate will have the opportunity to work autonomously but in the structure of a supportive team across a varied and interesting range of presenting health concerns. The multidisciplinary team includes Social Workers, Psychologists, Nurses, Aboriginal Health Workers and Health Education Officers to deliver high quality care. A Social Work degree which provides eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW). Applicants must possess an Australian C-Class driver's license (including P1 or P2). Those who hold a C class license (P1 or P2 included) from a state other than NSW must obtain a NSW C class (P1 or P2 included) license within three months of appointment. Learner's licenses are not permitted. Demonstrated experience in a health related field and ability to provide a range of Social Work interventions Demonstrated experience as a Social Worker in relevant clinical area (Youth Health) and an understanding of issues affecting health and well being of young people (12 - 24 years of age) and their families. Proven experience prioritising work across various disciplines - within Youth Health Services and managing stressful situations. Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team. Demonstrated high level communication skills (written, verbal and computer) with demonstrated experience in developing partnerships and working effectively with a range of stakeholders. Evidence of commitment to clinical supervision and professional learning. Demonstrated understanding and application of evidence based practice, commitment to quality processes.
