The Opportunity
Reporting to the EHS Manager, this role will support the execution of day-to-day elements of the EHS/Zero Harm Management System within the Carole Park plant, support execution of plant initiatives and will be responsible for ensuring that all plant EHS administration and compliance actions are documented and adhered to.
The EHS Administrator will work cross-functionally with operators and other plant stakeholders to determine day-to-day health and safety priorities.
You are an early riser, happy to start work early at 5:30AM.
What you’ll do
* Work in alignment with the James Hardie Zero Harm pledge and workplace environment, health and safety requirements
* Act as a safety leader at all times ensuring yourself and others perform their work safely
* Support the EHS Manager and Carole Park plant management team and department line and team leaders in activities associated with the APAC EHS Zero Harm Management System, including incidents, hazards, near misses or “at-risk” behaviours processes
* Report, enter and support, the Carole Park plant in the incidents, hazards, near misses or “at-risk” behaviours processes.
* Take ownership and participate in environment, health and safety initiatives/activities and training
* Respond to any hazard or incident that is raised with you and support the EHS department in investigations and documentation and provide any additional support required to respond to the identified incidents, hazards, near misses or “at-risk” behaviours.
* Conduct Workplace Assessments and Inspections at the direction of the EHS manager and, record TAKE5 Risks, IR’s, training, CTW Audits, Safety Talks & Alerts
* Support site safety induction with new employees, contractors and visitors to site
* Attend required training and support new operators within their assigned areas including but not limited to area Isolations and safety hazard/near miss reporting.
* Support Line Managers and Team Leaders on workplace audits and inspections.
* Maintain incident and corrective actions and site workplace inspection register, whilst conducting and maintaining records of inspection
* Support the Injury Management process and assist with facilitation and initial contact with injured workers, this may include the development of RTW plans.
* Support on-site environmental compliance activities including but not limited to Silica monitoring and documentation/administration and activities with the environment dashboard items.
* Maintain HMOS activities within your role and department and support lean manufacturing objectives as required.
What you’ll bring
* Certificate IV or diploma qualified in Occupational Health and Safety
* Entry-level experience within an EHS role within heavy industry or high-risk environment,
* Sound knowledge of relevant Australian EHS legislation including but not limited to safety regulations, codes and standards
* Basic understanding of EHS Management Systems, technology and tools and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
* Demonstrated ability to teach and train team members, operators and new starters effectively and provide safety guidance and support
* Experience with Safety Investigations and Injury management processes
* Has the ability to work autonomously on some tasks and displays a level of self-motivation as well as collaboratively within a fast paced environment
* Willingness to learn and engage with a demonstrated ability to take initiative in providing new ideas to improve process efficiencies within your role
* Strong communication skills both verbal and written
