The Opportunity
Hall Contracting is seeking an experienced Corporate Environmental Manager to oversee and enhance its environmental management systems. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in managing the company’s third-party accredited Environmental Management System (EMS), driving continuous improvement in environmental practices, and aligning operations with sustainability principles. This opportunity involves regular travel across Australia and the Pacific Islands to manage environmental risks, conduct site assessments, and work closely with project teams to ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
Duties and Responsibilities
Environmental Compliance & System Management
Oversee and maintain Hall Contracting’s 3rd party accredited Environmental Management System (EMS).
Ensure that all civil, dredging, and marine construction projects comply with environmental regulations in diverse and sensitive environments.
Audit and review the EMS to identify areas for improvement and implement enhancements to promote sustainability.
Manage environmental impact assessments and ensure the effective implementation of environmental mitigation measures on project sites.
Regulatory & Legislative Compliance
Stay up to date with environmental legislation, regulations, and industry standards across Australia and the Pacific Islands.
Ensure company operations meet all relevant legal requirements, including obtaining necessary permits and approvals for project work in sensitive environments.
ESG Strategy Development & Implementation
Lead the development, execution, and monitoring of Hall Contracting’s ESG Strategy.
Ensure the company meets and exceeds its environmental, social, and governance obligations.
Collaborate with internal teams to integrate ESG initiatives into broader business practices and project planning.
Track and report ESG performance to senior management.
Stakeholder Engagement
Work with project teams, contractors, regulatory bodies, and local communities to promote sustainable project outcomes.
Liaise with government authorities, clients, and industry bodies to represent Hall Contracting on environmental and sustainability matters.
Build strong relationships with external stakeholders to ensure that environmental and ESG goals align with the expectations of clients and regulatory bodies.
About You
Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
Minimum of 10 years’ experience in environmental management, with a focus on construction or a related industry.
Previous experience working in marine, coastal, and remote areas.
Proven knowledge of environmental legislation, regulations, and practices in Australia and the Pacific region.
Experience with 3rd party accredited Environmental Management Systems.
Strong understanding of ESG principles and experience managing corporate ESG strategies.
Certified Professional in Erosion & Sediment Control.
