Purpose of the Position:The Engagement Advisor plays a critical role in supporting Aboriginal Investment NT’s grants program and other initiatives. This position is responsible for engaging with Aboriginal communities, providing guidance on funding opportunities, supporting service providers, and ensuring programs align with community needs. The role also involves maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders and promoting the organisation’s objectives through effective engagement and communication.Duties:The following accountabilities are not exhaustive and may include others as directed by the Community Engagement Manager that are commensurate with skill set.Serve as the primary liaison between Aboriginal Investment NT and Aboriginal communities, ensuring transparent communication.Provide information and support to grant applicants, including guidance on eligibility and assessment criteria.Collaborate with service providers and Aboriginal organisations to enhance program delivery and accessibility.Gather community feedback and relay insights to senior management to inform policy and program development.Represent Aboriginal Investment NT at community meetings, forums, and events to promote awareness of grant opportunities and investment initiatives.Prepare status reports and ensure the accurate collection of data to measure community engagement outcomes.Ensure that all engagement activities align with relevant policies, guidelines, and legislative frameworks.Identify and investigate economic development opportunities within communities that align with organisational objectives.Provide recommendations for improvements in grants and investment initiatives based on community needs and feedback.Key Selection CriteriaEssential:Demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal communities and an understanding of cultural protocols.Strong communication, interpersonal, and engagement skills, with the ability to tailor messaging to diverse audiences.Experience in grants management, community engagement, or program administration.Knowledge of contractual principles, governance frameworks, and compliance processes.Ability to handle complex and sensitive issues with discretion and escalate matters as required.A deep understanding of the challenges facing Aboriginal people in the Northern Territory.Desirable:Experience in business or economic development, including financial planning and reporting.Knowledge of community development approaches and principles.Organisation Expectations:Contribute to the efficient and effective functioning of their team or work unit in order to meet organisation objectives.This includes demonstrating appropriate and professional workplace behaviours in accordance with the Code of Conduct, providing assistance to team members if required and undertaking other key responsibilities or activities as directed by one’s supervisors.Demonstrate and promote the organisation Values, ensuring all workplace behaviour is appropriate in all workplace settings, proactively calling out inappropriate behaviour.Read, understand and comply with all organisation policies and procedures.Undertake risk management and actively support and participate in the risk management processes adopted by the organisation which include identifying, analysing and evaluating risk that may impact on the organisation.Work at and travel between other organisation office/s or to other locations from time to time as may be required during the course of employment.Complete all mandatory training such as required by the organisation.Demonstrate understanding of the principles of anti-discrimination, staff equity, work health and safety and other relevant legislation, and show the willingness and capacity to implement equal employment opportunity and work health and safety plans, policies and programs.Work Health & Safety:Ensure all activities comply with WHS legislation and organisation policy & procedure.Implement & monitor risk management activities, including, but not limited to, workplace inspections, incident/hazard investigation and follow-up, and support in implementation of risk controls.Analysis of WHS training requirements for staff, including the provision of training and monitoring of training to ensure completion and currency.Salary range: $85,000 - $95,000.To apply, provide the following via email by 5pm Thursday, 13 March 2025:Cover letter, maximum 2 pages, that addresses the Essential and Desirable selection criteria outlined in the position description.Resume, maximum 3 pages, that outlines your relevant skills and experience.Details of two referees.
