Reporting to the Artistic Operations and Planning Manager, the Senior Producer - Artistic Planning sits in the Artistic Operations and Planning team within the Programs and Operations (P&O) portfolio in the Faculty of Fine Arts and Music.
The Senior Producer - Artistic Planning is responsible for the planning, development and budgeting of artistic programs and events across the Faculty. The position supervises the role of Producer - Artistic Planning, and the Orchestral Coordination team, to ensure consistency of program planning, processes and methodology. The role works closely with Heads of discipline, and within a defined governance framework, to program, plan and manage communication flow across a multi-faceted program spanning Performing Arts and Faculty events.
The primary focus of this role is the provision of detailed forward planning, and handover of well-considered production plans to Production Coordinators and other operational staff for delivery.
The Senior Producer - Artistic Planning is responsible for managing the engagement and contracting process of artists, in support of the Faculty’s artistic and events program. This role sees the incumbent working in close collaboration with other Artistic Operations and Planning staff, and P&O teams; senior academics including Subject Coordinators and students; and University teams including Communications and Marketing, and other shared services teams.
Your responsibilities will include:
* To provide day-to-day management of the Artistic Planning team to ensure that all Faculty programs and productions are presented safely and to a high and consistent quality.
* To work with the Manager, Artistic Operations and Planning, and Production Operations Manager, to draft production parameters to ensure the planning process does not result in plans which exceed the allocated resources or timelines.
* Maintain overall Artistic Planning budgets, tracking budget requirements across various functions including artistic, technical, venue, and administration.
* Develop a two-year rolling programming plan as determined within the Faculty’s Programming Committee and approved governance structure
* Negotiation of contracts with relevant artists, creatives, designers, consultants, musicians, and other staff as well as with venues, licensors, etc.
* Manage the Artistic planning team to effectively plan future productions, concerts and events through careful research, development and/or budgeting.

Who We Are Looking For
We are seeking candidates that demonstrate:
* Qualifications in a relevant discipline and/or a combination of education and relevant industry experience in a producing theatre company or music organisation.
* Experience in managing a team to support the planning, budgeting and contracting associated with a dynamic performing arts and music program.
* Experience in financial and contract management, with a proven ability to manage and control budgets and contracts.
* Strong project management skills with logical and analytical approach to planning and allocation of resources, including a demonstrated capacity to meet deadlines and manage large teams.
* Experience coordinating a multi-disciplinary performing arts program, that delivers high quality student and staff outcomes that align with curriculum and research outcomes with a focus on program delivery excellence and continuous improvement.
* Excellent consultation and engagement skills with strong communication and the ability to collaborate effectively with academics, professional staff, Directors and key stakeholders.

The Team - Programs and Operations
The Programs and Operations (P&O) team within the Faculty of Fine Arts and Music is a dynamic work area, delivering services, support and technical expertise to academics, students, professional staff and stakeholders. The team operates predominantly at the Southbank Campus within Melbourne’s Arts Precinct, as well as the University’s Parkville Campus.
The team oversees program planning, delivery, and operational functions across the following areas: production and technical; event coordination; film and recording studios; asset, equipment and resource management; facilities maintenance and support; capital works and building projects; Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S), technical infrastructure; management of workshops, performance spaces, studios and galleries. The Programs and Operations team collectively ensures the effective planning and delivery of the Faculty's performance, creative and visual arts program, aligned with teaching & learning, research, and engagement priorities.
