We have an exciting permanent opportunity for you to join the First Nations Health Office as a Principal Program Officer!The role of the Principal Program Officer is to undertake a range of procedural, operational planning, training analysis and assessment, course material technical development and maintenance, and program management tasks related to the U-me Koola program with linkages to improving the healthcare literacy and workforce participation of First Nations Queenslanders.The successful person:Demonstrated understanding of historical and contemporary issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and subsequent health impacts and determinants affecting engagement with education.Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and organisations.Ability to critically analyse and interpret educational course material and structures to underpin strategic program development and improvements, as well as participant performance monitoring.Capacity to undertake required tasks and projects associated with U-me Koola, including the co-ordination of input from other parties, with limited supervision and be responsible for meeting agreed timeframes.High level knowledge of health priority areas; the health needs of key population groups; and key health system issues as they impact on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.High level written communication skills, including ability to prepare correspondence and compile reports, discussion papers and submissions.High level verbal communication skills and achievements in cultivating productive working relationships, partnerships and teamwork, negotiating outcomes and effectively representing the interest of the Department in dealings with internal and external stakeholders.About us:The Department of Health is responsible for the overall management of the public health system in Queensland.
