With around 250 staff across various divisions, there is always something new happening and projects to be involved in.Fixed term, full-time - 5 year ContractSalary (Level 8 Officer): $128,522 to $137,155 per annum inclusive of annual leave loading plus superannuationRostered day off per monthFlexible work optionsBased in Hilton on the city fringeThe City of West Torrens is recruiting a Business Lead - Budgeting and Financial Reporting to provide high level professional accounting expertise in management accounting capacities for Council.In this role you will be responsible for the comprehensive management of the budgeting process, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting, and providing high-level professional accounting expertise across the Council. You will work collaboratively with senior managers to develop strategic financial plans, manage the annual budget cycles, and ensure compliance and statutory requirements are met. This role is pivotal in influencing financial decisions and delivering effective financial management, control, and advisory support to achieve Council targets and improve forecasting capabilities.Other key responsibilities include (but are not limited to):Managing the update of Council fees and charges for all departments, in conjunction with the preparation of the annual budget.Providing specialist support to all areas in the design, development and maintenance of the budget and reporting software.Managing the budget details within Council's financial software, including project costing requirements.Managing the year end program from end to end, including coordinating the preparation of Council's statutory accounts, ensuring all statutory obligations are met.Managing the annual budget process including capital budgeting, carryovers, quarterly reviews and monthly reporting.Providing specialist support to audit reviews and facilitate management review of draft financial statements.Who you are We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our team. Ideally, you will possess substantial and proven senior experience working within a comprehensive range of accounting capacities, demonstrating a thorough understanding of accounting policy, practice, and Australian Accounting Standards.Your expertise will be complemented by a high level of proficiency in computer systems, particularly spreadsheets and corporate accounting systems, preferably at a system administrator level.You will be an effective leader with proven experience in leading and guiding staff, possess exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills along with experience in fostering a culture of continuous improvement and excellence.Please note: A three year Commerce/Accountancy degree recognised by the ASCPA or the ICA is an essential requirement for this recruitment.
