Logistics Officers are the creative problem solvers of the Air Force and do far more than just ensuring integral supplies get from A to B. They plan, establish, coordinate, maintain and manage logistical support across the entire supply chain. These actions contribute to the Air Force on both a tactical and strategic level, and ensure the successful acquisition, storage and distribution of supplies, advanced technology, and sensitive materials.
This role can range from being a member of the executive team of a flying squadron, to being part of a unit that’s required to set up airfield services at short notice anywhere in the world.
What you’ll do
Whilst the role and functions you perform will vary day-to-day, you can expect to undertake an exciting mix of tasks that include:
1. Planning and executing supply chains, warehousing and distribution, movements and catering support to domestic and overseas operations and exercises
2. Leading and managing diverse groups of personnel in the fields of logistics, movements, and catering
3. Managing information and overseeing contracts for logistics, catering and materiel
4. Establishing and maintaining relationships and networks that enable effective support
As part of this high-tempo role, you’ll have the opportunity to work in a variety of locations and environments, ranging from field operations in remote locations in Australia or overseas, to a standard office environment.
Training and Career progression
You’ll receive the training you need to succeed in this role in your Initial Employment Training (IET), and be paid to do it. Courses cover logistics organisation, supply chain management, inventory management, warehousing/distribution, and more.
You’ll also undertake field trips for exposure to wider ADF logistics organisations in Canberra, Richmond, Williamtown and Glenbrook. These locations are home to some of the biggest Air Force bases, and a large number of Logistics Officers who are ready to assist with ongoing mentoring and coaching of new recruits.
There are also opportunities for further training and education, plus sponsorship for industry association memberships. The possibilities are endless.

In the Air Force this role is known as a Logistics Officer (LOG).
