PURPOSE OF THE ROLE: As a Cyber Security Architect, your primary responsibility will be to assess, develop and maintain a comprehensive cyber architecture and its alignment to cyber strategy. Working with cross-functional teams, you will be required to effectively translate strategic objectives into security design that drives the integrity and safeguards organisation against various threats. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES: Develop and maintain a security architecture process and the organisation's cybersecurity architecture, including network security, cloud security, application security, and data protection. Develop and maintain security architecture artifacts (high-level designs, reference architectures, patterns, templates, standards and procedures). Provide baseline security configuration guidance for operating systems (such as OS hardening), network segmentation and identity and access management (IAM) based on the endorsed standards. Develop patterns and practices for data encryption and tokenisation in the organisation, based on the organisation's data classification criteria. Guide the development of security policies, procedures and standards for review and approval by the executives and formal endorsement of the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO). Validate security configurations and access to security infrastructure tools, including firewalls, IPSs, WAFs and anti-malware/endpoint protection systems. Coordinate with DevOps teams to advocate secure coding practices, and to escalate concerns related to poor coding practices to the Enterprise Architecture director and CISO. Review network segmentation to ensure least privilege for network access. Review security technologies, tools and services, and makes recommendations to the Cyber Security Operations team for their use, based on security, financial and operational metrics. Assist the Cyber Security Compliance team with assuring compliance with applicable cybersecurity regulations and standards and participate in security audits as needed. ESSENTIAL CRITERIA: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field. Experience in using architecture methodologies like TOGAF or Zachman Demonstrated experience in cybersecurity architecture and design, especially in implementing the ACSC Essential Eight and the broader recommendations of the ASD Information Security Manual (ISM) Knowledge of ISO27001/27002 and/or NIST 800-53 Experience designing the deployment of applications and infrastructure into public cloud services. Direct, hands-on experience or strong working knowledge of managing security infrastructure such as firewalls, intrusion prevention systems (IPSs), web application firewalls (WAFs), endpoint protection, SIEM and log management technology. Experience designing IAM technologies and services for Active Directory and Azure Active Directory (AAD) Strong understanding of security frameworks, best practices and a knowledge of emerging cybersecurity threats and trends.
