Project Overview:
Bechtel Mining and Metals offers engineering, procurement, and construction services for customers in the mining sector across multiple commodities including Iron Ore, Bauxite, Alumina, Aluminium, Copper, Gold, Coal, Lithium and Rare Earths markets.
Headquartered in Santiago, Chile, the M&M global business unit also has offices in Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide in Australia along with execution units in the United States, Peru, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, India and other project locations around the world.
Job Summary:
As Environment, Safety and Health Training Specialist, you will coordinate the development, organization, and implementation of the training plan for a project’s Environmental, Safety, and Health (ES&H) program. You will collaborate to develop orientation, courses, strategies, leadership programs, and other methods for content delivery.
Your work will ensure effective ES&H communication and training that will improve worker safety on the job.
Major Responsibilities:
* Coordinates the Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) training program to enhance HSE program implementation.
* Coordinates with the HSE Manager on the preparation and implementation of training programs for the project including specialized and statutory HSE courses that relate to contracted scopes of work, including Bechtel and Client HSE standards.
* Collaborates with subject matter experts to develop training materials and awareness strategies.
* Leads processes for classroom and instructor-led courses, hands-on training (e.g., hazard school), printed media, and other methods to promote knowledge and awareness of all three HSE disciplines.
* Undertaking training audits and compliance checks on Contractors to assure Bechtel is meeting its training goals and contractual requirements
* Review Contractor training programs and providing recommendations to the Bechtel HSE Manager
* Reviewing and updating the Project training materials to ensure they remain relevant and compliant with best practice, Bechtel and Client requirements
* Other responsibilities as designated.
Education and Experience Requirements:
* Requires a Bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) related to environmental, safety, health, education, or a science-related discipline and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
* Microsoft Office programs including Word, PowerPoint and excel
* Proven experience developing training programs and implementing them on construction or industry.
