Our mission is to empower and enrich the lives of children and families through engaging playgroups and school holiday programs.YMCA Springfield Lakes Community Centre is recruiting an enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Program Officer in a Part-Time 20 hours per week, 1 year Contract (Maternity Leave) starting in January 2025 based in Springfield Lakes.About the roleThis position will be responsible for organizing and running playgroups for children aged 0-5 years and creating engaging and fun school holiday programs for children aged 3-12 years. The ideal candidate will be passionate about early childhood development, community engagement, and have a strong desire to make a positive impact on the lives of young children and their families. Experience in program development, community services, or working with children is highly valued.What will my time look like?Develop and deliver high-quality playgroup programs that cater to the developmental needs of children aged 0-5 years.Create engaging school holiday programs that provide fun and educational experiences for children aged 3-12 years.Foster a welcoming and inclusive environment for families and children, ensuring their needs are met and that they feel supported.Collaborate with local organizations and stakeholders to ensure programs are aligned with community needs and provide additional support where necessary.Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness, gathering feedback from parents, caregivers, and children for continuous improvement.Promote programs through social media, community outreach, and other communication channels to increase participation.Provide information, referrals, and resources to families that enhance their well-being and connect them to additional community services.Support and engage volunteers, assisting with their training and supervision as part of the programs.Ensure the safety and well-being of all participants, adhering to safety guidelines and protocols during all activities.Am I a good match?Diploma qualification in Early Childhood Education, Community Services, or a related field is highly desirable.Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect and engage with children, families, and community members.Experience in program development and delivery for children and families, particularly in early childhood or school-aged care.A commitment to creating inclusive and safe environments for all participants.Organizational skills to manage program logistics, scheduling, and participant tracking effectively.Ability to work flexible hours and over School Holidays.First Aid and CPR certification, or willingness to obtain.A current Blue Card or willingness to obtain one.What’s in it for you?Joining our team means you’ll have the opportunity to work in a vibrant, community-focused environment where you can make a real difference in the lives of children and families.
