Flight Centre Travel Group are looking for a mid-level Software Engineer to be responsible for the backend design, build, testing, and release across multiple streams. The successful candidate will have experience in agile software development, working/using the appropriate agile methodologies and lean practices. The role will also allow ability to demonstrate practical experience of development, such as agile engineering methods backed by a deep understanding of good software engineering practices.
A day in the life...
1. Design, develop and deploy backend microservices hosted in Azure Cloud (azure functions, container applications, web apps) and APIs primarily using .NET Core, C#, Terraform.
2. Craft high quality, secure, testable, maintainable code that is not over engineered.
3. Own the quality of what we build, through testing, test automation and observability to ensure operational reliability and performance.
4. Analyse business requirements and problem solve to create the right solutions for our customers.
5. Participate in code reviews with other engineers to provide feedback to ensure we maintain quality, standards, meets requirements and compliance.
6. Maintain and improve our documentation across code bases, architectures and our knowledge bases.
7. Collaborate in our cross-functional Product Management and Engineering teams to plan and deliver high quality solutions in a fast-paced, agile environment.
8. Be an impactful contributor to the team, to plan, design and build elegant solutions.
Who you are...
9. Previous experience as a Backend Engineer.
10. Experience with Azure Cloud components such as Azure Functions, Container applications, Document DB (CosmosDB, table storage), Blob containers, Service Bus, APIM.
11. Proven experience in building user-friendly, responsive web applications for desktop and mobile.
12. Experienced with .NetCore C# coding, unit-testing, debugging, and automation techniques.
13. You are proficient in some of the following: C#, Yaml.
14. Proven experience in designing, building high traffic reliable and performant microservices.
15. Experience in software testing from unit tests.
16. Experience in building JSON-based RESTful APIs, as well as CRON/Queue/Blob triggered microservices.

17. Experience with DevOps tooling & practices valuing a DevOps culture.
18. Experience with observability tools, such as logging (Application Insights) and monitoring (Grafana).
19. Passionate about/experienced with open source and developer tools.
