Responsibilities
1. Lead design and evaluation of control systems, field instruments, and safety systems.
2. Oversee production of detailed designs, specifications, and technical reports for instrumentation and control.
3. Review engineering solutions for Management of Change Requests from Facilities.
4. Ensure compliance with cyber security and functional safety standards for PLC, DCS, SIS, and ESD systems.
5. Review Shutdown/Breakdown Reports and conduct Root Cause Analysis.
6. Manage selection, sizing, and specification of instruments; prepare datasheets, RFQs, and BOMs.
7. Maintain technical assurance and documentation integrity throughout the asset life cycle.
8. Conduct risk assessments and ensure compliance with safety standards in design and operations.
9. Support Technical Maintenance and Operations teams; provide on-site technical support as needed.
10. Continuously monitor unit performance against relevant standards.
Introduction
We are seeking an Instrument Engineer to join our client's team in Darwin in a permanent capacity. The Instrument Engineer will report to the Engineering Manager and will provide technical and advisory support to the Offshore Team in regard to instrumentation and control systems and relevant regulatory requirements.
Essential skills and knowledge
1. Bachelor's degree in electrical or electronics engineering or similar.
2. Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) preferred but not essential.
3. Extensive experience in systems design, technical and operations support.
4. Previous offshore/FPSO experience through conceptual design, commissioning and operational support.
