Join a dynamic and forward-thinking organisation as the Media and Communications Coordinator and play a key role in shaping how we connect with our community and stakeholders. About the Role As the Media and Communications Coordinator, you will lead the development and delivery of high-quality media and communications outputs that align with organisational priorities. You will work closely with senior leaders to craft strategic messaging, mentor team members, and ensure our communications are timely, accurate, and relevant. This role is pivotal in managing critical incident communications and staying ahead of emerging trends to enhance our engagement with diverse audiences. Key Responsibilities Review media and communications outputs daily to ensure they reflect agreed organisational messaging and priorities. Use high-level judgement to select the methods, techniques and treatments that improve written media and communications outputs and maximise their effectiveness Mentor and coach staff, and the organisation more generally, to improve the timeliness, accuracy, relevance and consistency of council's corporate communications. Provide high-level advice on the development, implementation, and review of strategic corporate messaging. Provide as-needed support to the Media and Communications Manager in daily communications tasks. Mentor and coach team members to improve the quality and consistency of written communications. Support critical incident management communications with strategic advice and timely responses. Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to achieve communication objectives. Stay informed about emerging communication trends and provide expert advice to enhance organisational outcomes. About You A tertiary qualification in marketing, communications, journalism, or a related field, or extensive relevant experience. Demonstrated experience in preparing and editing high-quality written communications at a senior level. Proven ability to translate organisational priorities into effective messaging for diverse audiences. Strong coaching and mentoring skills to uplift team capabilities. Experience in critical incident management communications and problem-solving under tight deadlines. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to advise senior stakeholders and resolve conflicts with tact and discretion. Current Queensland "C" class licence. Why Join Us?
