Our clients breed and fatten top-quality cattle for domestic and export markets. They run a sustainable and profitable agricultural enterprise producing organically certified Santa Gertrudis cattle in quality natural environments. The family-owned business encourages a positive and safe work environment and maintains the highest industry standards for cattle farming. They are seeking a dynamic station management couple to lead the team on Mt Leonard/Arrabury Stations aggregation located on the channel country in SW QLD. The property covers approximately 1.9 million acres and runs 6,000 well-bred, docile Santa cows.
They are looking for experienced pastoral couples with exceptional stock handling and management skills, a passion for achieving profitable and productive results, and good communication and people skills. You will provide leadership and direction to the team across all general station operations, livestock production, and animal husbandry areas. You should have a passion for cattle breeding, excellent livestock handling skills and experience, and understand staff engagement, communication, and interpersonal relationship skills well. Reporting to an absentee GM who will value your thoughts and contribution to the operational business plan.
Essential Criteria:
* Ability to lead a station team and provide constructive feedback and guidance to employees with positive results.
* Strong leadership capabilities and team player.
* Demonstrated passion for pastoral cattle grazing.
* Previous experience in a similar role, leading by example and managing people.
* Low-stress livestock handling experience and a commitment to animal welfare.
* Experience using computer systems to record livestock data.
Practical leadership and management skills are essential in this role, including a strong commitment to animal welfare and nutrition, adeptness in large-scale livestock logistics, feeding, marketing, and selling, strategic thinking, and an intricate understanding of livestock water systems. Building and nurturing relationships is at the core of your role, whether with contractors or fostering positive community connections that enhance the property's reputation.
Your Responsibilities Include:
* Leading the overall management of a large-scale beef production system.
* Leadership of Workplace, Health, and Safety.
* Excellent planning, logistics, and time management.
* Lead and maintain a cohesive team of staff, demonstrating hands-on leadership.
* Diligent future planning, budget, and cost control with full accountability.
* Work with the GM to develop the enterprise's goals, plans, and budgets.
* Overseeing implementation of enterprise goals, plans, and budgets.
* Work closely with external contractors and inputs.
* Thorough and transparent reporting of outcomes.
* Make strategic and operational decisions that ensure the best use of resources for a profitable and sustainable future.

The station lies approximately 200 km from Windorah and 170 km from Birdsville. While a tiny and remote town, Birdsville is world-renowned for its annual horse racing carnival and infamous Hotel. Management is also heavily involved in the annual running of the local Betoota Horse Races.
