About the role: The role of the Business Development Manager, Projects will be instrumental in shaping and delivering on the strategy of the Hach ANZ Projects business, will provide project sales leadership and coordination at the regional level to promote Hach Process Instrumentation and achieve revenue growth in major projects. The Business Development Manager, Projects will build strategic external relationships with companies delivering projects in the municipal and industrial water and wastewater markets, and build internal relationships with sales, marketing, commercial, and technical resources. They will manage Global Key Accounts and major project opportunities. The person in this position will be well-networked, highly polished, and engaging. Key Responsibilities: Manage the Projects business: Develop and maintain a strategy for the growth and success of the Projects function, and a detailed sales & marketing plan for executing short-to-medium term activities. Take ownership of and continuously improve the processes related to the Project function such as lead/opportunity tracking, project sales, project stakeholder engagement, tenders & bids, etc. Track, analyse and report on key performance indicators to ensure successful progress over time in the Project business. Maintain customer relationship and account activity (opportunity funnel) in the Hach sales management system. Manage the Projects & Tenders Internal Sales function and the Applications Development Manager – Process. External focus: Develop strategic relationships and eventually partnerships with large Project Delivery (E&C/EPC/SI) companies. Confidential - Company Proprietary Build strategic alliances and partnership with companies offering complimentary products. Monitor market trends, regulatory drivers, brand or product strengths, market opportunities, competitive threats, and market growth predictors. Conduct and support market research, including voice-of-the-customer interviews, to assess current and future customer requirements and benchmark competition. Internal focus: Engage with other areas of the business to grow the Projects business in line with strategy. Interface with other functional leaders and teams to develop and improve sales tools and Hach offerings needed to facilitate success with Projects Key Accounts. Lead the sales process for projects. Support the sales team to develop project business and improve their capabilities in relevant areas. Coordinate solo and joint sales activities with RSMs, Service Engineers, Distributors and other colleagues as appropriate to support the overall sales organization and deliver results. Technical capability: Develop and maintain a high level of expertise in all areas of applications and associated products relevant to markets where we operate. 13. Become highly proficient with the Danaher Business System tools to drive change and sustain process improvements. Travel: International and/or domestic travel is a requirement of this role. Incumbents must be willing and able to travel extensively (approx. 2 weeks per month), including overnight travel. Qualifications, Experience & Skills: Tertiary Degree in Business, Engineering, Chemistry, Process Technology or related discipline; or equivalent work experience. Minimum of 5 years’ experience in selling consultancy solutions. Background includes a range of experience in project management, strategy, sales, marketing, and/or business development. Demonstrated ability to achieve superior sales results. Applications knowledge of the drinking water and wastewater process. Strong leadership capability. Ability to establish strategy and drive change. Superior interpersonal skills and executive presence, with an ability to work with people at multiple levels & address large groups. A high degree of commercial competency & business strategy capability. Strong organization and planning skills, to manage a portfolio of project opportunities. Ability to assimilate technical information quickly and synthesize into useable and understandable concepts. Strong quantitative and analytical skills. Strong computer proficiency.
