Description The Opportunity Housing Choices Australia (HCA) is seeking a dynamic General Manager, Risk & Compliance to lead and enhance our risk and compliance frameworks, ensuring best-practice governance that supports our mission of delivering safe, secure, and affordable housing to those in need. This is a pivotal leadership position responsible for shaping and embedding a robust risk and compliance culture across Housing Choices Australia. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the organisation adheres to all regulatory, contractual, and legislative requirements while fostering a proactive approach to risk management. Working closely with the executive team, you will influence strategic decision-making and drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance governance and operational effectiveness. Reporting to the Chief Financial & Risk Officer, you will: Lead the development and execution of risk, compliance, and assurance frameworks across the organisation. Ensure regulatory, contractual, and legislative compliance, safeguarding the organisation’s operations and reputation. Support senior leadership by providing insights and strategic direction on risk and compliance matters. Drive continuous improvement through innovative systems, processes, and work practices. Oversee risk assessment, reporting, and governance to support informed decision-making. Foster a strong risk-aware culture by providing training and guidance across all levels of the organisation. Engage with key stakeholders, including the Board, executive leadership, and external regulators. Skills And Experiences About You You are an experienced leader with a passion for driving strong governance in the not-for-profit or community housing sector. You bring: Extensive experience in risk, compliance, and governance leadership roles. Relevant qualifications (e.g., RMIA membership, CPRM certification, business, strategy, or management studies). Strong knowledge of compliance requirements in the community housing, NFP, or regulatory environments. Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively. A track record of leading teams, fostering professional growth, and managing change.
