We are seeking Recovery Workers to provide immediate, on-ground assistance in response to Tropical Cyclone Alfred. This role requires short-notice availability (within hours) and the ability to self-organise travel to affected areas.
MuraConnect is a proud Queensland organisation partnering with a Queensland Government department responding to natural disasters. We are looking for local heroes in Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, Brisbane, Redlands, Moreton Bay and Logan to be on the frontlines of disaster zones as an onsite Recovery Worker.
About the Role
As a Recovery Worker, you will be engaged on a short-term contract (with possible extensions) as part of the Regional Emergency Management Team providing face-to-face assistance to those most affected. You will work in Recovery Hubs and out in the community, ensuring those impacted receive the help they need. This position involves short-notice deployment to impacted areas, requiring flexibility, resilience, and strong decision-making skills. Every day will be different, presenting new challenges and opportunities to make a meaningful impact. You will be responsible for:
* Advising on recovery programs and assisting in completing grant applications
* Supporting those who have experienced significant trauma
* Connecting individuals with the services they need
* Collaborating with team members and other organisations to ensure coordinated support
* Updating systems and maintaining accurate records
About You
To be successful in this role, you are:
* Passionate about helping others in times of crisis
* Adaptable, compassionate and sensitive to community needs
* An excellent problem-solver, communicator and able to think quickly in changing environments
* Proficient with technology and able to learn and use new systems
Background in events support, disaster coordination, and similar positions is highly desired.
