Position Overview: Agilent Technologies is seeking a dynamic and experienced Software R&D Director to lead our R&D site in Mulgrave, Australia. This role is integral to our global software division leadership team and involves developing platform components to be used across multiple software product development teams across Agilent’s divisions. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in software development, excellent leadership and people management skills, the ability to drive innovation and strategic initiatives, and lead partner engagements. Additionally, the ideal candidate will have extensive experience in planning and managing the delivery of diverse software foundational components that address the integration and support needs of diverse partner tech stacks and deployment environments.Leadership and Management:Lead and manage the Software R&D team in Mulgrave, ensuring alignment with global strategies and objectives.Represent the Australian site in the global software division leadership team, advocating for local needs and contributions.Participate in the Agilent Australia Country Management team.Foster a collaborative and innovative culture within the team.Strategic Planning:Develop and implement strategic plans for the development of platform components.Ensure that these components meet the needs of multiple software product development teams across the organization.Project Oversight:Oversee the entire lifecycle of software development projects, from conception to delivery.Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.Collaboration and Communication:Facilitate effective communication and collaboration between the Mulgrave site and other global R&D sites.Act as a liaison between the Australian team and other stakeholders, including product management, marketing, and customer support.Innovation and Improvement:Drive continuous improvement in software development processes and practices to drive to a professional-level component development and delivery organization.Encourage the adoption of new technologies and methodologies to enhance product quality and development efficiency.Resource Management:Manage the allocation of resources, including personnel, budget, and tools.Ensure the team has the necessary tools and support to achieve their goals.QualificationsKey Skills:Technical Expertise:Strong background in software development and R&D, with experience in developing and delivering platform components.Proficiency in relevant programming languages and development tools.Experienced in development and delivery of software components.Leadership and Team Management:Proven ability to lead and inspire a diverse team of software professionals.Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.Strategic Thinking:Ability to develop and execute strategic plans that align with organizational goals.Experience in managing complex projects and delivering results.Communication and Collaboration:Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.Ability to work effectively with and influence global teams and stakeholders in partner organizations.Innovation and Adaptability:Strong focus on innovation and continuous improvement.Ability to adapt to changing technologies and market demands.Domain Knowledge:Experience in the software industry, preferably within the life sciences domain.Understanding of the specific challenges and opportunities in developing platform components for multiple product teams.How to Apply:Interested candidates are invited to submit their resume and cover letter detailing their qualifications and experience.
