MRQ is bringing together the Australian Volunteer Coast Guard and Volunteer Marine Rescue, which will be dedicated to protecting Queenslanders in our oceans and waterways. Through these two organisations, approximately 3,000 Queensland volunteers undertake around 4,000 activations operating across 46 units throughout the state each year. MRQ will benefit from the extraordinary wealth of expertise and diverse geographic knowledge of marine rescue volunteers, uplifting capability and capacity across the state.
Key responsibilities and skills required for this role:
* In collaboration with the Program Manager and PMO, manage existing project plans and other project management documentation to ensure ongoing success.
* Ensuring plans and approaches are achievable and are utilising resources across the program effectively.
* Applying effective leadership to deliver project success.
* Ensuring good practice project management discipline is being applied to the projects, including risk management.
* Ensuring effective communication across projects, and with supporting program functions, to manage interdependencies appropriately.
* Developing and maintaining project management artefacts.
To be considered for this role you must have:
* A minimum 5+ years experience in Project Management. Managing large and complex Projects concurrently through to successful delivery.
* Project/Program Management qualifications
* Prior experience working within a Queensland Government Department.
* Exposure to volunteer organisations.
* Capacity to be flexible with work hours to attend evening and weekends activities with volunteers to facilitate engagement
* Be living in Brisbane, no interstate applicants will be considered for this role.
Selection Criteria:
* Experience in designing, managing and/or implementing a governance framework for a project/program.
* Familiarity with government projects (with particular emphasis on QPS, Emergency services, maritme).
* Demonstrated experience working within a structured project management environment within a large portfolio with many inter-project dependencies.
* What high level risks would you expect to see and how would you manage them, in a project of this nature?
