John Forrest Secondary College (SC) is seeking to establish a pool of Home Economics Assistants for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2025 school year and up to the end of Term 4, 2025. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.

Under teacher direction, the Home Economics Assistant supports the teachers in the delivery of planned educational programs, ensuring safe and hygienic storage and handling of food. Responsibilities include:
1. Assisting with the preparation and maintenance of the learning environment, including ordering and preparing food, equipment, materials, and resources for use in classes.
2. Regular activities such as tidying and cleaning of cupboards, dishes, floors, and refrigerator/freezer; laundering of linens and clothes; and cleaning stoves, ovens, benches, floors, and walls as necessary.
3. Classroom and administrative tasks, including checking all equipment and reporting any discrepancies to the teacher, and assisting with the care and supervision of students.
4. Maintaining and updating inventory lists, monitoring stock levels, and requirements.
5. Cleaning during vacation periods, including thorough cleaning of all equipment and facilities.
The suitable applicant will ideally be well organized with high standards of food handling hygiene. They will be energetic, flexible, and reliable with excellent communication skills to work well in a busy team environment.
Minimum Requirements:
* Be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident, or have a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of the appointment.
* Obtain a valid Working With Children Check before starting.
* Consent to a National Criminal History Check with the Department's Screening Unit.
