The Senior Trainer Officer, Intelligence will provide significant assistance to the Manager, Community Corrections and Specialist Operations Training in the review and design of contemporary intelligence training and development programs, to meet the needs of QCS, Custodial and Community Corrections operations.
Responsibilities
* Identify the competency needs of QCS Intelligence staff intelligence users using appropriate training needs analysis methods
* Conduct skill audits to confirm training meets QCS and individual needs of staff
* Prepare for and deliver training, ensuring where relevant to nationally accredited training, Registered Training Organisation (RTO) standards are met, and resources and any specific needs are organised prior to delivering sessions
* Review training and assessment procedures, and report findings to appropriate personnel for system modification purposes
* Develop a training calendar for all Intelligence development training considering other Custodial and Community Corrections trainings, and communicate program availability to relevant participants
* Identify and consult with internal stakeholders and external training providers to ensure Intelligence staff are provided with contemporary role specific training and development
* Provide input to the QCS Academy management team through the Manager, Community Corrections and Specialist Operations Training in relation to development of training for Intelligence staff
* Use information collated through an effective training evaluation process to contribute to the continuous improvement of the Intelligence training curriculum and content
* Coordinate and conduct assessment validations on an annual basis in accordance with RTO standards
* Evaluate training through self-assessment, participant feedback and supervisor comments
* Ensure sufficient evidence is gathered to determine competency
* Record assessment results accurately in accordance with specified record keeping requirements
* Provide recognition of current competencies and recognition of prior learning opportunities to staff
* Validate all new training and assessment tools in accordance with RTO procedures and QCS policies and procedures.
Essential Requirements
* Experience in and an understanding of the contemporary intelligence operations within a criminal justice environment
* Experience in the design, delivery, implementation, and review of vocational educational training programs
* Skilled in written and oral communication
* Confident facilitator with demonstrated capability to successfully engage a diverse audience of adult learners to help cement knowledge transfer and application.
* The ability to work effectively in a cross functional team
* Analytical, problem solving and conflict resolution skills
* The ability to build and sustain relationships and manage ongoing working relationships with a range of stakeholders.
Qualifications, Professional Registration, Conditions, and Other Requirements
* Possession of a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAA40116) or equivalent qualification is highly desirable. Candidates not possessing a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment will be required to achieve that qualification within 12 months.
* Applicants are required to acquire the Diploma of Correctional Administration (Intelligence). This is required in order for the role to deliver and assess the Diploma qualification as part of their duties.
* Relevant tertiary qualifications would be highly desirable.
* Travel may be a requirement for this position.
* This position may be required to work at different sites.
