About the role
Every day, Life Without Barriers provides support and care to children and young people, as we work collaboratively with families, carers, and communities, to ensure they have the environment they deserve to grow. We are recruiting for Family Contact Workers to join our Armidale team on a casual basis. As a Family Contact Worker, you will be responsible for monitoring family visits between children and their families. From time to time, you may also be required to provide youth work, transportation or mentoring to children. The shift pattern is across 7 days and will include morning shifts, afternoons/evenings, and weekends.
Key Responsibilities
1. Monitor and facilitate contact between the child or young person and the family member.
2. Ensure the safety and well-being of the child or young person and those participating in the visit.
3. Establish rapport with children and young people through mentoring or youth work.
4. Provide transportation up-to 4 hours.
5. Complete report writing after each contact with a child or young person.
6. Access rostering and shift information through email and calendar.
Skills & Experience
1. Either hold and maintain; or be actively working towards a Certificate IV in Child, Youth and Family Intervention (Residential Care) and obtain the qualification within the timeframes determined by the relevant training authority.
2. Unrestricted and Current Drivers Licence.
3. Your own fully insured vehicle, child lock system and back seat capacity.
4. Current First Aid and CPR and/or willing to obtain.
5. Confident in using a variety of computer systems and outlook.
6. Previous experience working with children and young people.
7. Passion & commitment to improving the quality of life, skills and independence of children and young people.

Life Without Barriers offers a dedicated After-Hours Service (AHS) for all Child Youth and Family programs. AHS ensures efficient responses to after-hours events that cannot wait until the next business day, relieving our front-line staff from on-call duties and significantly improving their work-life balance.
