A great opportunity has become available for a Senior Sub-transmission Planning Engineer to join us and take the driver’s seat to undertake planning for our electricity sub-transmission network which feeds electricity to 802,000 customers across eastern and north-eastern Victoria and in Melbourne’s north and east!
With a Hybrid split (Office/WFH), this role is based in Southbank and is part of the Network Strategy & Planning team.
This role will deliver real outcomes, including but not limited to:
4. Undertake comprehensive network planning processes to assess network capabilities (long & short-term), assess emerging issues, and identify areas of the network where limitations are existing or expected to emerge in the future, and develop network solutions and contingency plans
5. Use probabilistic planning criteria to determine economic solutions to emerging sub-transmission network constraints
6. Plan for a new energy future taking into account macro trends in the energy sector and the impacts of climate change
7. Deliver Transmission Revenue Reset (TRR) and Electricity Distribution Price Review (EDPR) technical inputs on time and to required quality
8. Develop and publish periodic planning reports &/or provide inputs as required under our regulatory obligations for sub-transmission network, including VAPR inputs, DAPR inputs, TCPR, DLFs, AEMO AFLR inputs, AEMO GPSRR inputs and RIN inputs
9. Produce network investment plans and proposals for the regulated transmission and sub-transmission networks, including developing optimised and prioritised major station rebuild programs (transmission) and network augmentation programs (sub-transmission) that support regulatory submissions and program delivery
You don’t need to check every box; however, we are looking for a good combination of:
10. Engineering Degree in electrical engineering or equivalent
11. A passion for facilitating and accelerating the energy transition while delivering our customers’ energy needs today
12. Proficiency and knowledge of contemporary electricity network planning, asset management practices and overarching markets
13. Demonstrated years of experience in the energy industry preferably with some experience in utilities
14. Expert in using electricity network analysis tools or relevant software (such as PSSE, PSCAD, PowerFactory &/or Sincal) and interpreting results
15. Knowledge of National Electricity Rules, Electricity Distribution Code, the energy markets and relevant laws, regulations, rules, licences and agreements
16. Understanding of primary plant, lines assets, network protection & control devices and protection schemes
