For almost 200 years, the Auditor-General has assisted the parliament of New South Wales to hold government accountable for its use of public resources. We do this by conducting independent audits across a diverse client base in sectors including community services, health, education, justice, emergency services, transport, planning, environment and local government.

How will you contribute?
As a Financial Auditor you will undertake audit assignments either individually or as part of a team to deliver high quality financial audits for specified clients. Financial Auditors will generally be supervised by and report to a Senior Auditor. Key duties of this role include:
4. Conducting external audit of public sector entities financial statements alone or as part of a team
5. Planning and conducting audit testing, identifying the most efficient methods of obtaining assurance required
6. Evaluating misstatements and conclude whether balances and disclosures are materially correct
7. Identifying, assessing, and documenting issues and recommend solutions
8. Establishing excellent working relationships with client staff of all levels
9. Discussing issues with client management and obtain agreement on solutions
10. Ensuring complete and accurate documentation is maintained of audit work conducted
What will you need to succeed?
We are seeking 14 Financial Auditors (Auditor 4 & Auditor 3 levels) to undertake audit assignments as part of a team to deliver high quality financial audits.
We are seeking candidates who possess effective communication skills (both written and verbal), strong interpersonal skills and be a team player. You will have the capability and desire to progress to a leadership position within the Audit Office.
To work with the Audit Office as a Financial Auditor you must have:
11. Obtained or undertaking full membership of CPA Australia, Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand or the Institute of Public Accountants
12. At least one to two years experience in external audit of financial statements
13. Sound knowledge of accounting and auditing standards
14. Experience working in an entry level supervisory role desirable
15. Australian permanent resident or citizen or New Zealand citizen.
To work with the Audit Office as a Financial Auditor 4 (A4) you must have:
16. completed a minimum of three subjects for membership of CPA Australia or the Institute of Public Accountants (IPA) or five subjects for Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand.
17. at least two years experience in external audit of financial statements
18. experience working in an entry level supervisory role.
To work as a Financial Auditor 3 (A3) you must have:
19. completed a minimum of one subject of CPA Australia or the Institute of Public Accountants (IPA), or two subjects of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand.
20. at least one year's experience in external audit of financial statements.

If you do not live in Sydney, it is important to understand that when you are required to attend head office or a client site within the Sydney metropolitan area, you will need to cover the associated travel and accommodation costs.
