Key competencies
1. Knowledge or ability to rapidly acquire knowledge of medical terminology and abbreviations, pathology test names and specimen types.
2. Availability to work all shifts on the existing and future roster patterns, ability to undertake additional shifts to backfill holiday and sick leave.
3. A working knowledge of, or demonstrated ability to quickly learn, all aspects of pre analytical specimen processing (CSR). Data entry skills and the use of MS Word and Excel a distinct advantage.
4. Ability to work in a responsible and efficient manner with and without supervision, ability to prioritise workload to meet deadlines, ability to effectively use, or quickly acquire ability to use, the Laboratory Information System.
5. An established history of positive teamwork and respectful behaviour. High level of interpersonal and communication skills to enable effective, cooperative interaction within a work group and between clients.
Qualifications, registrations and other requirements
6. Certificate III in Pathology Assistance and / or Certificate III in Pathology Specimen Collection (Phlebotomy) would be highly regarded.
7. Previous experience in CSR and phlebotomy would be well regarded although not mandatory.
8. Mandatory participation in the evening, weekend / public holiday roster.
9. Able to work rostered shifts between the operational hours of 0700 – 2200, including weekends.
