Your new role
In this role, you will head up the engineering and maintenance operations, shaping policies, systems, processes, and metrics, and orchestrating engineering and maintenance projects throughout the company. This role reports to the Operations Director for Australia and New Zealand.
Responsibilities include: Lead and inspire a high-performing engineering team. You will direct and prioritise their activities, leveraging their technical expertise to achieve optimal outcomes. Identify opportunities to enhance processes, reduce costs, and boost production through innovative capital works, modifications to existing designs, and the implementation of cutting-edge production techniques. You will also develop and implement appropriate testing procedures to ensure the efficacy of these improvements. Spearhead engineering projects from conception to completion. This includes scoping, designing, costing, and preparing capital submissions. Work closely with management, production, and marketing teams to determine the feasibility, cost-effectiveness, and suitability of both new and existing processes. Oversee the maintenance team. Provide guidance to your supervisor who will run a team of skilled fitters, electricians, and contractors, ensuring the timely repair of all site facilities and operating equipment. Implement a robust preventative and planned maintenance program to reduce breakdowns, optimise equipment lifespan, and ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements. Create clear and concise Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for common maintenance tasks, and ensure that thorough training is provided to all personnel involved in these procedures. Forecast operating costs and capital expenditures for your department, including the preparation of budget requests. You will also manage the region's minor capital budget, which amounts to AUD 4 million annually, with the potential to utilise up to AUD 10 million as needed. Demonstrate active involvement in and support for company initiatives, both locally and globally. Contribute to production and operational meetings, including the daily production meeting, providing valuable insights and updates. Delegate tasks effectively, monitor progress, provide constructive feedback, and foster the professional development of your team. Possess strong interpersonal and presentation skills, enabling you to effectively persuade, convince, and negotiate with stakeholders at all levels. What you'll need to succeed Tertiary qualifications in Engineering. Engineering/maintenance management experience, with a focus on engineering and project management. Proven experience in a management role, organisational competencies, and project management skills. An analytical and mathematical mind, capable of evaluating and solving various complex problems. Leadership skills necessary to manage and develop a team. A self-motivated attitude with the ability to multitask and thrive in a timeline-driven environment. Ability to work individually or as part of a team. Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident. What you'll get in return $175,000 + Super + Bonus.
