Position Information Singleton High School is a large, comprehensive rural high school catering for years 7-12. The school is situated in the Hunter Valley, approximately 1 hour from Newcastle suburbs with access along the Hunter Expressway. The school has a current student population of 912, including 3.5% EALD and 26% Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students. The Singleton High School expectations are Pride, Respect, Responsibility and Excellence in Learning. Emphasis is on quality teaching and learning, enhancing student achievement and learning outcomes, with a strong commitment to student engagement and attendance. The school promotes a caring and supportive environment, providing programs that cater for students of all abilities and backgrounds. The Support Faculty has increased in size over the past few years with currently 9 classes in 2024. Singleton High School has strong, productive relationships with all partner primary schools. A Deputy Principal Inclusion and Support position was established in 2022. The KaWul Aboriginal Cultural Resource Centre, established Aboriginal boys (Clontarf) and girls (Kayu Kumpa) programs, local Elders, an active AECG and strong executive leadership ensure high quality Aboriginal programs are integral to Singleton High School. Strong links have been fostered and developed for 27 years with our sister school in Takahata, in Japan. The school has a high level of support from parents and carers and strong community partnerships. Selection Criteria Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria, 1. Approval to teach PDHPE and proven capacity to lead the implementation and evaluation of teaching and learning programs, inclusive of evidence based pedagogical approaches, curriculum implementation and effective assessment and reporting. 2. Demonstrated capacity to foster a culture of high expectations and collaboration to effectively lead PDHPE staff through curriculum reform to successfully embed high-quality teaching, learning and assessment practices resulting in improved student outcomes. 3. Proven ability to work collaboratively with executive team to lead, manage and implement systems, processes and initiatives that address whole school strategic priorities. 4. Demonstrates a strong commitment to differentiated teaching and learning, fostering an inclusive and engaging classroom environment to ensure equitable opportunities for all students. General Selection Criteria 1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice 2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs 3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams 4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents 5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning 6.
