About the Role:
Canberra Health Services (CHS) is seeking a dynamic and dedicated pharmacist with a keen interest in emergency, prehospital, and critical care medicine to join the CHS Pharmacy Registrar Training Program in Emergency Medicine (EM) at Canberra Hospital. This program, offered at Canberra Hospital, has been accredited by Advanced Pharmacy Australia (AdPha), formerly known as the Society of Hospital Pharmacists of Australia (SHPA).
The position is offered on a temporary basis to enable completion of the program over a 2-year period (with the possibility of extension or permanency), in line with the AdPha EM Registrar Training Pharmacist Framework.
The Canberra Hospital Emergency Department (ED) is the major tertiary, trauma, and referral centre for adult and paediatric consumers across the Australian Capital Territory (ACT) and surrounding regions of NSW. A major upgrade and expansion of the ED opened in August 2024, increasing the ED bed base to a 147-treatment space facility. As an EM registrar training pharmacist, you will work as part of an ED clinical pharmacist team that is fully integrated into the emergency services, providing extended hours clinical support, and working in extended scope roles to enhance patient care.
The pharmacy department runs a successful AdPha accredited residency program, an excellent intern training program and is accredited for several Registrar Training Programs. We are a progressive, forward-thinking department, having introduced credentialed accuracy checking technician roles and implemented Partnered Pharmacist Medication Charting on the main Canberra Hospital site in Garran.
This position is required to work as part of an extended hours roster in the ED, 7 days per week.
