About us:
Gladstone Hospital provides a range of services to Gladstone and the Banana region. A new emergency department has been built which has doubled the departments current capacity. Operational Services provides a catering, housekeeping, ward support and fire safety and security service to the entire Gladstone Hospital facility and surrounds. The Fire Safety and Security function includes the provision of a safe environment for patients, visitors and staff as well attending to all aspects of Fire Safety and responding to calls for support and Codes including the management of aggression.
About the role:
The Fire Safety and Security Officer is responsible for providing facility, building and asset security, including protecting the personal safety of patients, staff, visitors, and the general public whilst on health services land. This is achieved by providing regular monitoring of the environment and emergency response services.
1. Provide traffic management throughout the car parks when required on site to achieve compliance with all users.
2. Maintain a positive strong security presence in and around the Gladstone Hospital facilities including regular patrols and welfare checks as appropriate.
3. Liaise with department/unit supervisors and employees in relation to fire safety and security issues.
About you:
Mandatory qualification: Certificate II in Security Operations (or equivalent) qualification is a mandatory requirement of this position.
4. Well-developed knowledge in the methods, techniques and procedures involved with the provision of Fire Safety and Security services within a healthcare setting.
5. Demonstrated ability to prioritise work commitments and manage time effectively.
6. Demonstrated ability of working effectively with the public.

7. An hourly rate between $40.63 to $42.58 p.h. (including 23% casual loading)
